Dear Fellow Australians,
Please let me introduce you to a new concept of a new International All-Sports Flag for Australia.
For historical and heritage reasons, we should respect and honour the present design of our National Flag representing the Commonwealth of Australia.
This new flag will easily distinguish us from the large number of other countries also featuring the Union Jack on their National Flag.
Description
Green and Gold are the colours used by Australians when representing there country in international sporting events. | |
|
|
| Surely it is time that our teams (such as the Australian Football Federation's Socceroos, etc.) played under our own very distinctively designed "Australian Sports Flag" with the Australian National colours "Green and Gold" |
 |
representing the colours of our national emblem the wattle. These colours are found on many species of wattle with it's familiar green foliage and golden inflorescence.
| |
|
These official national colours, green and gold, were formally established in a proclamation by Governor-General Sir Ninian Stephen dated 19th April 1984.
| |
 |
The golden disc in the centre is derived from the Aboriginal flag and represents the Aussie sun symbol. The kangaroo is also derived from Aboriginal culture
|
| and therefore should be represented in the centre of the Aussie sun symbol. Australia has the symbol of the kangaroo which is native only to this continent on planet Earth. Every citizen on the entire globe will automatically recognise the kangaroo as an uniquely Australian symbol. | |
|
This gives the flag an Australian identity which is already presently represented opposite the emu in our national Australian Commonwealth Flag in the Coat of Arms logo. The new International All-Sports Flag has the Southern Cross with all stars present, including the Commonwealth Star, in a brilliant white colour in the normal position as on any national Australian Flag.
In the upper hoist (or canton) area there is provision for displaying the Coat of Arms or logo for any sporting team representing Australia in the international competitions.
Since the year 1974 watching our Socceroos playing in the World cup in Germany, I have dreamt about a new international sports flag. I conceived an idea and worked on the concept of an amalgamation of these Australian symbols into a new design.
My hope is that you and all the people of Australia will be ready to accept this new flag design to be easily identified and recognised by every citizen on Earth as uniquely Australian.
Hoping to hear from you soon, Henry Reil-Wenner henryrw@winshop.com.au
